The Danish Arts Council’s International Research Programme
In order to promote the exchange between Danish and international art the Danish Arts Council has launched a new international research programme. International, cultural agents within all the arts can apply for funding of research travels in Denmark.
Deadline for applications
There is a rolling deadline for applications. Response is given within two weeks (except for July when no response can be expected).
Who can apply
Curators, festival managers, publishers, heads of institutions and other cultural agents from abroad. The research programme is aimed primarily at applicants who already have contacts in Danish cultural life and who are therefore able to arrange meetings and visits with artists and institutions.
The grant covers the following areas
- Visual arts
- Literature
- Music
- Performing arts
Aims
To provide cultural agents from abroad with the opportunity to acquire an insight into the contemporary Danish art and art scene and strengthen the network and dialogue between the Danish and the international art scene.
Criteria
- The visit must promote and strengthen the international network of Danish artists and/or Danish art institutions
- The visit must play a decisive role in promoting understanding abroad of Danish artists and/or Danish institutions
- The visit must promote tangible collaboration between Danish and foreign art
At least one of the criteria must be met.
Who assesses the applications
The Danish Arts Agency’s centers assess the applications according to the above criteria, formulated by the Danish Arts Council.
How do you apply
Complete the web application form.
What can be applied for
The usual length of a stay is 3-7 days. Application for a maximum of DKK 15,000 can be made for direct expenses for travel and accommodation in Denmark. Travel and accommodation must be economy class and standard hotel room rate. The grant can only cover these two posts (not living expenses, per diems etc.). Applicants from developing countries can apply additionally for a subsistence allowance. The definition of developing countries follows the standards of the Danish Center for Culture and Development. See the list here
Payment and accounting
The Danish Arts Agency will pay the grant into the bank account specified in the application. As a rule the Danish Arts Agency will make payment as close as possible to the time when the granted money will be used, which is to say: at the start of the time-frame specified in the application for funding.
No later than four months after the completion of the project the recipient is required to sign and submit the Danish Arts Agency’s report form. Please see more about the rules concerning payment and accounting found via link “When offered a grant”.
