Biography about Peter Laugesen
Peter Laugesen was born 3.5.1942 in Copenhagen. He took his General Certificate from Århus Cathedral School in 1961 and the same year was trained as a typographer. Since 1965 he has made his living from writing. Besides his large literary production he has become established as a reviewer, newspaper writer, and translator, and is well-known in his role as lead figure in the jazz-beebop group Peter Laugesen and Mindspray. He has been a member of The Danish Academy since 1997. In 1999 Peter Laugesen was nominated for the European Aristeion Prize for his colleciton of poems Når engle bøvser jazz.
