Biography about Suzanne Brřgger
Suzanne Brøgger was born on 18 November 1944 in Copenhagen. She grew up in Copenhagen, but has also spent much time with her family abroad and has attended school in Colombo, Sri Lanka and in Bangkok, Thailand. At the University of Copenhagen she studied philosophy, French and Russian and in the 1960s she started to write journalism, writing commentaries from the Soviet Union, the Middle and the Far East. Her début as an author was a collection of essays Fri os fra kærligheden (Deliver Us from Love) from 1973. Since then she has covered almost all literary genres: autobiographical fiction, epic poetry, sagas, fairy tales, journals, children’s books, and drama. Since 1997 she has been a member of the Danish Academy.
