Biography about Benny Andersen
Benny Andersen was born on 7 November 1929. From 1948-62 he worked as a pianist in restaurants. His literary début was a volume of poems, Den musikalske ål (The Musical Eel), in 1960. Since then he has published more than 40 books in various genres including poetry, children’s books, radio plays and short stories. Since 1972 he has been a member of The Danish Academy.
