Biography about Vita Andersen
Vita Andersen was born on 29 October 1944 in Copenhagen. Her literary début was a volume of poems, Tryghedsnarkomaner (Security Addicts), in 1977, and only two years later she received the booktrade’s prize The Golden Laurels. In 1987 she was nominated for the Nordic Council’s Literature Prize for her novel Hva’for en hånd vil du ha’ (Choose Which Hand), and she received The Critics´ Prize the same year. Besides her work as a writer of fiction, including novels, short stories, poetry and children’s books, she has been attached to Aarhus Theatre from 1980-92 as their regular playwright. In 1991 she was given the Danish Fund for the Endowment of the Arts´ lifelong funding, and she has been nominated for the German Prize for Juvenile Literature in 1993.
