Biography about Klaus Rifbjerg

Klaus Rifbjerg was born in Copenhagen on 15 December 1931. He took his grammar school leaving examination at Vester Borgerdyd School in 1950, studied at Princeton university, USA, 1950-51 and Copenhagen University 1951-55. He has been a critic on the newspapers Information and Politiken, co-editor with Villy Sørensen of the periodical Vindrosen 1959-63, and Director of Gyldendal 1984-92. Klaus Rifbjerg has in addition been a member of the Danish Academy since 1967 and was a professor at the Royal Danish School of Educational Studies in 1986. In 1992 he was made an Honorary Doctor of Letters at the University of Lund in Sweden, and in 1996 he was given an honorary doctorate in the faculty of Arts at Odense University.
