Biography about Pia Tafdrup

Pia Tafdrup was born 29 May 1952 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She made her literary debut in 1981 and has published eight collections of poetry, edited two anthologies of contemporary Danish poetry and written two plays. In 1991 she published her poetics.
   English versions of her poems have appeared in more than forty literary journals in the UK, the US and Canada. A book of poems, Spring Tide translated by Anne Born, has appeared in England as well. Her work has also been translated into Swedish, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Macedonian, Rumanian, Russian, Slovakian, Turkish and Arabic. Pia Tafdrup is a member of The Danish Academy; The Danish PEN Centre and The Danish Language Council.
