Biography of Jakob Martin Strid Jakob Martin Strid was born in 1972 and grew up on the island of Funen in Denmark. The autodidact desktop publisher, illustrator and author made his debut in book form in 1997 with Vi hader alting!! [We Hate Everything!!], a collection of cartoon strips printed in Socialisten Weekend. Strid’s big break came in 2000-2001, when he began plying the Danish newspaper Politiken with a daily shot of the cartoon strip Strid. In 2001, he received the Dan Turéll prize for the hijinks of his alter ego in this strip. And in 2006, he was awarded the prestigious Danish Arts Foundation Three-Year Bursary.
