Biography about Søren Jessen
Søren Jessen was born in Sønderborg in 1963. Since 1989 he has worked as a freelance illustrator; he published his first picture book in 1991, Dino rejser til byen (Dino Goes to the City). The illustrations are the mainstay of many of Søren Jessen’s books, but in recent years he has also published novels. In 2000 Søren Jessen was awarded the Ministry of Culture’s Prize for Illustrators in recognition of his work with children’s books. He also received the 2000 Bogforums Debutantpris, awarded at the Danish Book Fair for a first book, for his novel Zambesi (Zambese).
