Biography about Jens Sigsgaard
Jens
Sigsgaard (1910-91) grew up in the rural environment of north-west Jutland; the
home was shaped by a Grundtvig-Kold philosophy and the farm was run as a
collective. He trained as a teacher, graduated in Psychology and for almost 35
years was the principal of Frøbelseminariet, an infant teacher training college
in Copenhagen. Sigsgaard described himself as having been born under a lucky
star, and it is indeed true that only a very few writers are granted
international success with their first book – and a picture book at that. The
book was Palle alene i verden (1942),
illustrated by Arne Ungermann.
