Biography about Charlotte Blay
Charlotte Blay was born in 1938 in Svendborg on the island of Fyn. Besides writing children’s books, Charlotte Blay has written scripts for Danmarks Radio (the Danish broadcasting corporation) and numerous song lyrics. Blay often seeks inspiration for her children’s books from her frequent travels and interest in ‘primitive peoples’ such as the Masai warriors in Kenya, Meskito Indians in Nicaragua and the Blackfoot Indians in the Rocky Mountains. She spent a period living with the street children in Honduras in order to describe their lives in her books.
