Biography about Henrik Bjelke
Henrik Bjelke was born in Århus in 1937, university entrance and first part law
exam from his home town. Further studies in Copenhagen together with work in
the central administration among other things. Debut as a writer in 1968 with
the short story collection Første person ental. Then essay collections,
poems, short stories, novels and plays. Side by side with his writing, Bjelke
taught at the Danish Refugee Aid Language School in Copenhagen, which teaches
Danish to foreigners, a job he held until his premature death in 1993. Bjelke
undertook a long series of travels and took part in writers’ congresses. In
1991 he was Danish delegate at the international human rights meeting during
the CSCE conference in Moscow.
