Reviews about Vagn Lundbye

On Rhinoceros Poems
…his book of poems becomes a survey of the human race as well and a pleasure stroll in the animal kingdom, a paean to the planet Earth itself – sung by nature’s own swelling voice. It’s an exciting sensation when it’s Vagn Lundbye doing it in his self-invented, different, and not always harmonious forms. With Næsehornsdigte (Rhinoceros) he has created a curious and brash work which testifies to a fertile obstinacy.

Erik Skyum-Nielsen in Information, 28 August 1990

On Palindromos or the Last Voyage of Colombo
The writing in the novel is, in ready imagery which could be Vagn Lundbye’s own, sumptuous as all getout. At once controlled and bombastically overcontrolled, but always striking and relevant because he makes his narrative penetrate to the flesh’s and the body’s urge. (…) Now the erotic is subordinate to another culture’s dictates, and the lucidity in the process has a sweaty aroma and attaches itself like a leech to the skin. Your skin.

Henrik Wivel, Berlingske Tidende, 12 Oktober 1991

On The Anholt Trilogy
These lines contain some of the key to Vagn Lundbye’s narrative art. As a writer he his hard to categorize – a modern romantic and mythmaker, something of a mystic who abolishes the frontiers of reason, time and place. But undeniably also a mystifier, an illusionist with one foot in charlatanry. A literary barnstormer.

Bo Tao Michaëlis, Politiken, 26 Marts 1991
