Reviews about Pia Juul

On Bewitched
As in the two previous books, the language in "Bewitched" is partial towards old things, antiques like girls who gather eggs, men with waistcoats, castles with moats, horse-drawn carriages and those sentenced to death, the logic of fairytales, dreams and old picture books. Pia Juul's poems ring like telephones that are impossible not to answer; penetrating, personal. May they continue to do so.

Christian Bundegaard, Land og Folk, 21 March 1989.

On A Dead Man's Sneeze
"Pia Juul's fourth collection of poetry cements her status as one of the most exciting younger poets, colourful and full of emotion and with an image style which is all her own. The poems in "A Dead Man's Sneeze" are intense and surprising in their interchange between in-credible close-ups of impassioned emotions and a dimension of watchful distance with a sense for uneven viewpoints."

Jørgen Johansen in Berlingske Tidende, 15 April 1993

On I Said, I Say
"Tradition, formed in rhymes, puns and idioms, romps about in "I Said, I Say". It is used playfully and anallytically and often leads to reminders of childhood. [...] It's not easy to put your finger on what makes Pia Juul a true poet - but it's there."

Marie Tetzlaff in Politiken, 9 April 1999
