Fairy-Tales

In the light, open lines Høeck has chosen he has found the ideal medium for the special form of experience and reflection that is his, and which one gradually learns to get along with. These are not poems in the ordinary sense, rather the peculiar minifestations of a temperament, presented in rhythms so long and slow that all the juice is sucked in until the verse is saturated. It looks effortless, but is achieved through the economy and deliberation that are displayed here.

There is a paradoxical lightness and obvious evident necessity about this enormous complex of mathematics and feelings, sequences of images, references to art and thoughts. The biggest questions and the most urgent seriousness cannot be separated from the humour. Reading a collection of poetry in a format like that of Klaus Høeck’s Fairy-Tales is a rather remarkable event.

A powerful revelation of the everyday! 1001 digt is a book with an adventurous mission of its own, and Klaus Høeck is system-constructor, everyday toiler and magician in the same person.
