Ms. Aidt is the first Dane in eight years to receive the Nordic Council Literature Prize, which will be awarded in March in Helsinki.
The Awards Committee expressed the reasons for its decision thus:
"Naja Marie Aidt writes in a graceful and ominously realistic style which draws out reality's undertones, bringing forth a recognition that everyday life rests upon a mycelium of possible catastrophes."
