Blinde engle/ Blinded Angels

Jon Bang Carlsen, 2007

A blind European man flies to South Africa to paraglide, a sport he cherished until his blindness prohibited it. He pays a local African woman to use her eyes to get to the top of the mountain, which lies behind her poor and violent township. Looking at the world through her eyes, he falls in love. But the affair with a stranger alienates the black woman from her crowd in the township, forcing her to take refuge in the European man's darkness. Together they plan to get to the top of the mountain and flee their shipwrecked worlds as Blinded Angels. The filmic style is a tapestry of interwoven documentary and fictional moments, creating an original new way of telling a story.
